POCKET PC'S FOR USE WITH BLACK LAB

IMPORTANT NOTE:
A Pocket PC must have RS-232 (serial) capability to work with the Black Lab system.

You can order the Pocket PC and required accessories online at the HP web site.

On this web page click in the GREEN box for more info on either the 2100 series or the 2400 series. Clicking on Specifications, brings up product details. On the specifications page there are a series of links in the grey box to the RIGHT of the product picture - one of these is Accessories and Options. This displays a wide variety of options.

Note that the HP web site may take you to a page that lists all Pocket PC's when you select the Accessories and Options link. You may need to reselect the Pocket PC again from that list. Then follow the link to the section called "PC connectivity and cables".

A Serial AutoSync Cable is REQUIRED to go between the Black Lab and the Pocket PC. If you order the Pocket PC "ruggedized option" from Analog Interfaces, it will be included. If you're ordering a Pocket PC on your own, you must also order the following accessory from the web page above:

COMMENTS

The key difference between the two Pocket PC's listed above is that the 2400 has a faster processor speed and Wi-Fi. Each model series (hx2100 and hx2400) can be ordered with or without the cradle.

Please note:

The cradle is a nice accessory to have but note that we do not recommend purchasing the cradle if the Rugged IPAQ option is ordered. In order to use the cradle with the Rugged IPAQ option, the Pocket PC and case used with the rugged option would require some minor disassembly every time the unit was placed in the cradle. Using the IPAQ with this option (i.e. without the cradle) is not a problem since the cable used with the Rugged IPAQ option already has a USB connector to plug into the desktop computer.
