Battery Option

BATTERY OPTION

Operating the Black Lab with a battery is essential if you wish to use the system where no alternative power source (like AC wall current) is available. The Black Lab system can be powered by an integral battery power source. The battery can also function also as an excellent back up battery source in case AC power becomes unavailable.The battery will switch over automatically.

When selecting a Black Lab system for use with a battery, make sure and specify the Black Lab battery version. If this option is purchased, the Black Lab will come with a battery holding bracket and a belt clip attached to the Black Lab enclosure. The Lithium Ion battery itself and a battery charger are all sold separately.

The battery is very compact and slides in and out of the battery holder easily for fast replacement with a fresh battery. If the battery power is depleted, the Black Lab will turn itself off until another battery or AC power is supplied.

The status of the battery charge (in per cent of remaining power) can be seen by pressing on the button label on the side of the battery visible through the cutout. Different LED’s will illuminate showing the remaining power left in the battery. The Black Lab system will warn the user that the battery power is low on the front panel.

Dual slot battery charger.

The battery charger will charge two batteries in the same charger. The charger will charge one battery first and when complete will begin charging the other (if present). Provision for recalibrating a battery operating characteristics is also included in the charger.

Note that Li Ion batteries can be recharged at any time to “top off” the battery. It is not necessary to fully discharge the battery before recharging.
